A night of Luxury at the Cellars Hohenort in Constantia

There are so many hidden boutique hotels and spas in and around Cape Town, but finding one that is as amazing and accommodating as the 5 Star Cellars Hohenort Hotel & Spa in Constantia will not be an easy task.

This gem of a hotel is part of The Collection by Liz McGrath and they invited Carlinn and I to come experience a mid-week night of luxury at their property, with all meals and drinks included.

Upon arrival in our fancy shmancy Ford Mustang that we had for the week courtesy of Ford South Africa, we were given an amazing parking right up front and while checking in, our bags were collected and taken to our Luxury Double Room, right next to a quaint little duck pond full of little ducks quacking away.

It was the end of lunchtime when we arrived, so the kitchen had closed, but they made a plan for us and brought Carlinn some scones from their High Tea menu and for me, they brought out one of the most delicious burgers I’ve ever had!

From lunch, we went straight into the gardens to go explore the different paths and features they have on the estate from an old bridge over a pond, to the miniature chameleons found in and around the bushes on the tennis court’s fencing.

Of course I took the drone out too, which I flew up from the Tennis Court itself, giving me an unspoiled view of the Cellars Hohenort from above. Here you can see they offer guests 2 swimming pools to swim in, one of which is located next to the Hair Salon and across from their Spa.

The hair salon is owned and run by Eloise Meyer, who will be there to style, cut or simply pamper your head any day of the week. Book in advance if you can as she’s really popular among locals too. She does men, as well as woman :)

Another gem of facility is their incredible Spa, located in the heart of the property, with their magical gardens as the backdrop to the out of body massages and treatments offered. We were unable to make our appointment at the spa, but I’ve made a note to go back soon to take full advantage of it.

Dinner that night was spent with the a great group of bloggers from around the country, including two of my favourite people, the Travel Manual‘s Lauren & Vaughn McShane as well as their tiny little person who was full of laughs and giggles all night.

To start our meal that evening, we were greeted with locally baked breads, as well as a Pork Terrine and Trout Starters which Carlinn and I shared.

My main course was the Springbok Loin and Carlinn had the Cape Salmon as she’s not a huge game meat eater. Mine was so juicy and cooked to perfection, so if you like Game, then go for that option!

To end the night, both Carlinn and I went for the baked Camembert with fig preserves! It was mind blowing, is pretty much all I can say! Think half a block of creamy camembert wrapped in pastry and baked in the oven! NOM!!

After all that food and wine from Constantia Uitsig, we made our way back to the room and within 10 minutes of being back in the room, our food coma’s kicked in and off to sleep we went.
