Every single time I see an email coming in from Ford, I just know it is going to be something exciting, but little did I know how awesome our weekend was about to become when I saw that we were being given the all new Ford Kuga 1.5L EcoBoost from Friday to Monday!
When the car arrived, it was a LOT bigger than I thought it was going to be and it was packed up with 2 picnic baskets filled with delicious food for 5 people, along with juices, padkos and even some blankets and pillows from The Picnic Company!
Along with the goodies, there was a booklet with directions to a picnic spot, which was the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town, and 5 Tickets to get in!
Considering the amount of food that we had inside the baskets, we invited 5 of our buddies making it 7 of us in total and there was still food left over at the end of the amazing day we had in the gardens, which we kept for a second picnic that we were going to have in the Cape Point National Park, but a baboon jumped into the car on the Sunday and stole all our food, but that’s another story all together!
The drive to Kirstenbosch in the Ford Kuga was amazing because the model that we were given was the 1.5L EcoBoost Trend and it was automatic and there is nothing better than just putting your foot down on the accelerator and not having to do much else but enjoy the ride!
The 1.5L Turbocharged EcoBoost engine of the Ford Kuga pushes out a maximum torque of 240Nm and 132kW of power! It also has a 6 speed engine which can be put into Sport Mode where gears can be manually be changed with the touch of a button located on the gear shift itself!
Some of the other features I loved about this car were the sexy 17” Alloy Wheels, Dual Exhaust Pipes and of course, those seat warmers to keep our butt’s nice and toasty while driving around a chilly Cape Town.
What I didn’t mention above was that when the Ford Kuga arrived, it had a full tank of petrol in it, which is why we decided to take the car out to Cape Point to go Explore that side by ourselves because every time we’d previously visited the park, we weren’t in our own car.
While stopped at one of the beach parking lots, we decided to do a shoot with Carlinn in the boot, but forgot to close the passenger side window, so while doing the shoot a damn baboon jumped into the car, made its way straight for our picnic basket and ate the remains of our picnic food.
All in all, it was an amazing weekend and when I had to give the Ford Kuga back on Monday, I couldn’t just give it back without doing one more shoot with it, so I drove to Signal Hill to snap a few more shots of it.
Thank you once again Ford for an amazing weekend in the Ford Kuga 1.5L EcoBoost!
