Watch my “Visit North Iceland” Video and read its backstory

This week was the release of my much anticipated Visit North Iceland video edit, but there’s a backstory as to how this trip came to be and why the edit took 3 months. This is that story.

It all kicked off with a WhatsApp message from Andy on the 1st of September saying “GO CHECK YOUR EMAILS RIGHT NOW MATE!”.

The title of the email was “Iceland Influencer Trip” which had me super excited to start, but when I opened the email and read we were going to Visit North Iceland, I just about did cartwheels because that side of Iceland is VERY unexplored by the typical content creators heading that side.

A trip to Iceland had always been a dream of mine, and that fact that I was heading over there with Andy, I just knew we were going to have a jol. You see, we’ve travelled together in the past, and we became close mates on a 7 day trip to Reunion Island in 2015.

On meeting with Andy a few weeks later at a coffee shop in Woodstock, our excitement levels were through the roof already and we got talking about some of the epic footage we would be creating one this once in a lifetime trip to Visit North Iceland!

The trip came and went, and we met two more amazing content creators on this trip, Marvin and Nik, who completed our group to make it super special! In fact, there’s a moment from that trip (not shared in the video haha) where all 4 of us were soaking in the hot tub outside the Siglo Hotel with an ice cold beer, watching the Northern Lights in absolute awe!

Life is unfortunately a fragile thing and on the 3rd of December 2016, Andy Carrie was knocked off his motorbike and passed away the next morning. It was one of the saddest moments of the lives of the thousands of people who’s hearts had beeo touched by this amazing human being.

It was a month later that I contacted the Carrie family to request access to some of Andy’s footage from the trip and permission to create a tribute video for him.

It took 3 months of editing, deleting, editing, crying, editing, deleting and more… It was really one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but I wanted to make this Visit North Iceland edit, one of my best.

Well, here it is, the LIVE video! Please give it a watch and if you knew Andy, you’ll know how much this specific trip meant to him. May he forever fly higher than any drone can fly1

I’ll end this post off by saying one thing. Life is short, so don’t take no for an answer, don’t say “I’ll start that tomorrow” and most important, don’t take it for granted…
